Help for back pain
What causes back pain?
Back pain is very common. About 85% of us will experience disabling back pain at least once during our lives. In our chiropractic office, low back pain is the most
common closely followed by neck pain and mid back pain. That's a lot of bad backs!
The back is a complicated structure of bones, joints, ligaments, muscles and nerves. There are many causes of back pain. So what are the most common?
Poor Posture
Slouching due to poor sitting, standing or working posture can put pressure on the spinal joints and muscles to cause back pain. Postural correction is the solution. Ask about our free Posture Checks!
Muscle Strains
Overused muscle injuries are a common cause of back pain. Tired or overworked muscles combined with poor lifting posture can cause a strain that really hurts. If the pain lasts more than a two days, see our chiropractor or massage therapist for the right solutions.
Ligament Sprains
Stretching ligaments too far or too quickly will tear them and cause back pain. The bleeding into the surrounding tissues results in pain and swelling.
Your chiropractor can recommend natural solutions to soothe and heal the pain
Arthritis
Arthritis means "joint inflammation". If your spinal joints are affected by arthritis you will experience back pain. Arthritis in spinal joints causes degeneration in the join with bony spurs growing on the
edges of the spinal bones.
Brunswick Health's chiropractors use clinically proven natural supplements that help restore the degeneration of joint cartilage to offer pain relief for arthritis.
Disc Bulging or Protrusion
Discs are strong shock absorbing rings of cartilage that separate the bones in the spine to allow the big nerves from your spinal cord to travel out to the rest of the body.
These discs can weaken with injury, accumulated trauma or disease. Once weak, the central fluids can bulge out and pinch the nearby nerves, this will then cause back pain.
Brunswick Health's chiropractic team have over 20 years of experience in the natural treatment of back pain resulting from disc bulges and protrusions.
Sciatica
If the sciatic nerve from the low back is pinched or irritated, pain will often travel from the low back down into the back of the leg. It can even hurt into the foot. Starting chiropractic care as soon as possible can help improve the sciatic nerve's healing time.
