Diagnostic Testing

The following tests are available now at Brunswick Health:

Brunswick Health is at the forefront of professional complementary medicine services and is committed to taking an evidence based approach to natural medicine. Through the growing range of testing available at Brunswick Health, patients can benefit from greater accuracy in the diagnosis of health conditions. Our diagnostic tests also assist our practitioners to identify risk factors which guide their choice of complementary medicine treatment.

We only use non invasive forms of testing that may require saliva, urine samples which in most circumstances can be collected at home, assisted by clear collection containers complete with instructions.

Tests available at Brunswick Health

1. Total Body Health Assessment (TBHA)

Why have a TBHA?

The Total Body Health Assessment (TBHA) is a revolutionary assessment that gives an accurate and measurable "helicopter" view of how well your body is functioning and aging.

By determining how well your cells are functioning and your body is working as a whole, you are able to plan, and act, for a healthy future.

What will a TBHA Show?

It will show you how well your body is functioning and aging.

Practitioners conducting a TBHA use the Bio-Impedance Analyser (BIA) to measure the objective biomarkers of ageing and cellular health to assess your body composition and overall health status. The BIA has been validated in a number of trials and is used by NASA in space programmes to assess the health of astronauts.

What are the bio-markers of aging?

The biomarkers that are key physiological indicators of ageing assessed in a TBHA include:

  • Phase Angle (cellular health and function)
  • Body Fat Mass
  • Active Tissue Mass (muscle mass)
  • Body Mass Index (BMI)
  • Cellular Toxicity
  • Intra and Extra Cellular Fluid Ratios
  • Biological age (vs chronological age!)

Who should have a TBHA?

A TBHA is an excellent general check-up for everyone. However it is particularly recommended for anyone who has an inflammatory condition such as arthritis, asthma, allergies, ulcerative colitis or autoimmune disease.

The test is also valuable for people who are generally unwell and have not found an identifiable cause such as fatigue, recurrent infections or chronic fatigue syndrome.

What happens in a TBHA?

The TBHA is performed by one of our Practitioners using the BIA machine. Prior to the test you will be asked to empty your bladder, have a glass of water and sit for a few minutes to ensure an accurate result.

TBHA testing involves a non invasive bio-impedance current analysis which measures your cell tissue's and body tissue's electro-conductive capacity. This is done by placing two electrodes on the foot and two on the hand and connecting the BIA machine to the electrodes.

The BIA machine measures the bio-impedance by sending a charge between the electrodes. The process is completed within a few minutes and you don't feel a thing!

Depending on the results of your TBHA your Practitioner will devise an individualized treatment and lifestyle programme to address any specific problems areas that have been identified by the BIA machine. Your practitioner can then track your progress by reassessing your BIA results at specified time intervals, ensuring that your health improves and that you achieve optimum health and wellness.

2. RBTI Testing

What is an RBTI?

RBTI stands for Reams Biological Theory of Ionisation and involves the analysis of saliva and urine.

The formula was discovered by a doctor, biochemist and mathematician Dr Carey Reams in the 1930's. These tests detect pH, mineral imbalances and energy loss in the body's organs which if left to progress ultimately manifest as some form of disease process.

This is a new exciting introduction to the clinic which shows you exactly where the body is at a specific time and what programme you must put in place to restore balance with minerals, diet, water and rest. RBTI takes a lot of the guess work out of prescribing.

How does an RBTI test assess the functioning of my body?

RBTI provides a comprehensive assessment of organ function. The test assesses:

  • Carbohydrates (sugar) in the urine, an indicator of your energy levels and available energy. Imbalances indicate liver and pancreatic function may not be optimum.
  • pH of urine shows how effectively nutrients can be absorbed.
  • pH of saliva shows this may be the cause of weight gain or inability to gain weight. Again this is an indication of liver and pancreatic function out of balance.
  • The amount of cellular debris in the urine indicates how the body is disposing of cellular waste.
  • Mineral salts in the urine indicate how well hydrated the body is.
  • Nitrate Nitrogen (NN) shows how well protein is being broken down in the small intestine and is the key to your body's need for potassium. A high reading indicates a problem in the upper part of the body.
  • Ammonium Nitrates (AN) indicates how much putrefactive waste is being absorbed primarily from the bowel.
  • The total of your NN and AN show the level of urea being passed in the urine, another pointer to major stress factors and tiredness. These numbers also indicate where your major weakness is in the body. It also indicates infections, liver deficiencies, kidney problems, energy imbalances and dietary concerns.

Chiropractors using RBTI are Dr Voula Roumel and Dr James Sidebottom. For more information please call our centre in Brunswick West, Melbourne on 03 9380 8099 or book an appointment online
